I know you. I know the voices in your head; the ones that say that you're not good enough/ strong enough/ talented enough.
I know the other voices too; the voices that tell you that you are worthless, shameful, ugly, unlovable, and not capable of achieving all that this world has to offer. The voices that are soo loud at times that they drown out everything that is good in your life and inside you. yeah. I know you.
I know how hard it is to be a woman. The endless expectations, the jealousy, and the competitiveness with not just those around you but within you too. The constant stream of anxious thoughts as you analyze and compare and ridicule yourself for not being enough, having enough, doing enough.
That overwhelming fear that tenaciously holds you back from the finish line. Or the promotion. Or the dream.
I know the pressures you and I face as each sun sets- another day is done, and yet the lists of things unaccomplished seems to grow and grow. As does the pile of laundry, the bills and the burdens. Each item on your to-do checklist representing, and at times throwing in your face, the empty abandoned goals and dreams of your childhood or young adulthood. What ever happened to them, you ask yourself. Yeah. I know you.
I also know that deep down inside you, there is a little girl who is begging for your attention. Have you met her? Have you felt her tug on your heart strings? Do you know that she exists? Are you aware that she is patiently waiting for you to recognize her as your inner child so that her wounds can heal and she can once again feel valued and loved?
Inside all of us women is a little girl- our inner child - who carries with her the hurt and pain and disappointment from our younger years.
But our little girl is precious. She is beautiful. She is innocent. She is capable of accomplishing her dreams. She is hopeful and vivacious. She is forgiving of mistakes and accepting of faults and imperfections. She is loving, and deserving of being loved. She is powerful and wealthy. She is nurturing. She is worthy of your attention. She IS YOU. And She is the key to your adult self healing and growing.
Our little girl stands besides a doorway in our hearts as our greeter and our guide. She is ready to heal and be heard so that she can accompany our adult self through that door to the dreams and potential and the true self that is just on the other side of it.
She is ready to take that journey. Are you?
